Paintings and PAINTED drawings

Catharine Cary is known for her fulgurant gestural paintings where what is white is often more important than the color that sets it off.  Her work has been shown in France, Germany, the UK and the US, and featured in the offs of the FIAC, art basel Miami, Art Chicago and the Venice Biennale. Today, she moves her body and voice more than a paintbrush, but certain paintings are still waiting to go out and do their work in the world.

In the first description of her work, she said « I render turbulence with delight and paint to elucidate that which is simple and clear. »

In her marks and her lines, Catharine Cary reveals the fringe of our memory,
a quivering tremor, a part of life, our suspended double.
